We’re fortunate enough to have some lovely things written about our winery. Here is a sampling of the latest reviews.
“Unexpectedly Good”2 January 2018
2nd January 2018
Well we thought we were out for a quiet lunch at a winery with friends, 4 couples…the self-styled godfather of Australian insurance and his child bride moll, the famous Australian husband and wife models celebrating their 15th wedding anniversary that day, the body-builder with super pecs and his super fit wife ‘Martha’, an IKEA superstar from Sweden and me. A collection of kids were banished outside where they ate succulent pizzas and had the run of the winery gardens, while us responsible adults got on with the semi serious matter of food and wine in this self-sustaining restaurant & winery. What ensued was both a culinary delight and also a lesson in knowing when to stop drinking the very gluggable house wines, especially the Slaughterhouse Red, which had the priceless ability to sail down one’s throat effortlessly, majestically and seemingly limitlessly. The accompanying food was a revelation. There were almost scuffles to get at the pork terrine starter chosen by two of the party, ( Godfather and ikea girl) who understandably but selfishly refused to share. Of the mains, the snapper and the wagyu beef elicited happy sighs and similarly protective attitudes from others around the table. The wagyu was the best food I’ve had thus far on my little tour of Melbourne, Mollymook and Sydney as I forlornly follow the hapless England cricket team on the latter stages of their losing tour. Excellent cheese choice and desserts complemented the foodie love fest we’d enjoyed earlier, it was of course necessary to accompany these with more red wine that got better and better as more slid down our accommodating throats. The service was first rate, a good team, all focusing on us relaxing and enjoying ourselves. Can’t ask for more than that can you ? Fresh air in the gardens followed the lunch, again complemented by the yet more agreeable Slaughterhouse Red. We all departed around 6pm, a happy- some would say merry – troupe, some making more sense than others. Great fun, everything was tip top, a really enjoyable experience all round. Go and enjoy.
