New Gallery Exhibition – Chloe Smith13 October 2015 – posted in: Event News, Uncategorized
Chloe Smith is a developing artist, two years out of high school, who has held a passion for drawing animals and creatures of mythology since she was a child. Having worked in graphite and charcoal for majority of her life, she’s grown her skills in recreating still life images to turn them into surrealistic and metaphorical works. Focusing mainly on human behavior and emotion, she builds up the similarities and connections between mankind and animals.
Being a little shy about sharing her artwork, she mainly showed it to her family and friends, but after completing the HSC course of Visual Arts and having carried her art major around Ulladulla High between classes, she gained much admiration and praise from peers and teachers. This encouraged her to get her work out into the community, and from that she’s taken a step out with her first solo exhibition “THERE’S MONSTERS UNDER MY BONES”, an exhibition revolving around Greek mythological beasts, and her interpretation of them as different mental illnesses. Through this collection of works she hopes to contribute to peoples understanding of, raise awareness and to encourage and support those who have experienced a mental illness directly or have been affected by in their lifetime.
Chloe aims to grow and further her skills and style in every direction; learning as many art basics as she can from her job at Splatters of Milton, and from the many creative customers she encounters there, as well as drawing inspiration from the different sorts of people she meets in the world, and the stories they share. She plans to study courses leading to a career in concept art, illustration and design of characters and creatures in movies and video games.
