What makes Spring such a special time to visit the South Coast?

As the weather warms up—Spring averages between 20-22º—with sea temperatures rising too, you can enjoy what the South Coast is best known for pristine beaches, local food and drinks experiences, great yoga, and sunset drinks.

Spring officially arrives across the Southern Hemisphere in September, so this month is a great opportunity to revive after winter and prepare your body, mind and soul for a new, and warmer season. Where better to do it than right here in on the South Coast

1) YOGA ON THE SOUTH COAST

Available every day

There aren’t many things more invigorating and nourishing than a yoga class, and the South Coast has some of the best yoga studios in Australia.

From hatha yoga to ashtanga and vinyasa, there’s a class and schedule to suit everyone. Start your day with sunrise zen yoga with Kerry. Himani runs weekday Vinyasa style classes suited for all levels at her Dolphin Point Studio and regular Teacher Training courses if you want to further your yoga knowledge.  There are even classes for kids and teenagers at Tidal Yoga in Milton. 

2) IMMERSE YOURSELF IN LOCAL FOOD AND WINE AT THE SOUTH COAST FOOD AND WINE FESTIVAL, BERRY

14-15 September 2019

Prepare your taste buds for the first South Coast Food and Wine festival. Berry Showground will be home to the best chefs, winemakers, brewers, distillers, and food producers at the South Coast Food and Wine Festival on 14-15 September 2019.

There are so many opportunities to learn new things and try delicious produce with a culinary indulgence program throughout both days. Learn all about local South Coast Oysters with Australia Oyster Coast paired with Cupitt wine Or, take a seat at the Ollsons Masterclass Tent for the Salt, Sake and Shiraz Masterclass a learn all about this invaluable product. You even get a take-home Ollsons Well Seasoned Traveller Pack! 

Entry is around $30 and there will be live music, workshops and even a cooking stage. Not to be missed!

Be sure to visit the Cupitt’s BEER, WINE AND CHEESE Stall and try our Cupitt Reuben Sandwich made with Cupitt Black Angus Corned Beef, Cupitt Cheese, Organic Sauerkraut from the Cupitt Kitchen Garden and pickles washed down with a beer or wine. Zero miles at its best. 

While you are there try the Cupitt Craft Brewers Spiced Pumpkin Ale – our special festival release. 

3) LEARN TO MAKE COCKTAILS AND ENJOY SUNSET COCKTAILS AT CUPITT’S WINERY

Class 11th October and 9 November. Cocktails on the deck Fridays and Saturday evenings  

Just 5 minutes’ drive from Ulladulla, Cupitt’s has one of the best views to enjoy Sunset on the South Coast and with the introduction of daylight saving into our lives again, there is no better time than spring. 

Open late on Friday and Saturday (confirm opening in case of closure for a private function) Cupitt’s has a range of seasonal cocktails made with housemade syrups from garden botanicals. Enjoy a cocktail as the sky turns pink, beautiful. 

Cupitt’s Cocktail Making Masterclasses are a fun and interactive workshop with our cocktail Guru Anthony. Sip on bubbles while Anthony takes you step by step through the art of cocktail making – drinking your creations along the way. You’ll learn how to create classic cocktails, make different syrups and how to infuse base spirits with these botanicals to take your cocktails to a new level. Buy for yourself or a gift for someone else. Tickets cost $60 per person. 

4) DRINK LOCAL BEER 

Sat 19th Oct, 3:00 pm – 10:00 pm

If you love discovering new local beer than the South Cost Beer Festival should be on your radar. The third annual South Coast Craft Beer Festival is a micro-festival with only 300 tickets. There is plenty of chance to chat to the brewers,  enjoy tasty food from Tallwood, chill out to some local performers and of course enjoy locally produced beer.

A ticket includes a selection of beer tastings, local musicians, door prizes, souvenir festival glass and a warm fuzzy feeling for helping us deliver assistance to our community. Camping is also available. 

You can chat to local South Coast brewers including Cupitt’s Craft Brewers, Long Stocking Brewery, Camel Rock Brewery, Jervis Bay Brewing Co, Dangerous Ales and Stoic Brewery. 

The festival is run by the Apex Club of Milton Ulladulla with proceeds going toward local community projects. Grab your tickets here

NB: The early bird discount is still running for this year’s festival and applies to both your festival ticket and camping but will expire on the 19th of September when ticket prices will rise from $40 to $45 ($60 with camping).

5) UNFORGETTABLE SCHOOL HOLIDAYS

Schools’ are out across Australia from late September to mid-October and South Coast is an ideal place to come for a family holiday. When it comes to fun-packed things to do for the kids the South Coast has you covered. 

One day you could go on stand up paddle boarding adventure or surfing. The next day could be spent exploring national parks brimming with wildlife and native flora.

At Cupitt’s there’s an all-natural kids’ adventure playground to explore checking our chicken and duck, enjoying pizza and rolling down the hill. On the October long weekend, we have a weekend jamp packed live music. On Saturday 5th October Shaun Wessell and Brad Parsons take the stage at 12.30pm (free) and Sunday we have local favourites Brothers performing in our charity fundraiser for the local Rural Fire Services.

Escape ARTfest also runs in the school holidays starting on Thursday 10th October and until Sunday 13th October 2019. There are lots of events in Milton and Ulladulla and surrounds. Each and every year the festival serves up a wealth of talented artists for the absolute pleasure of its loyal audience.
