Local artist Sally Willbanks invites you to join her for wine and nibbles at the launch of her art exhibition, “Sign Language”, held at Cupitt’s Winery Cellar Door Gallery on Thursday April 30th, from 5:30 to 7:30pm.
Sally is primarily an abstract painter. She was trained at the Rhode Island School of Design in the United States, and has successfully made a career as a working artist. Her new series, “Sign Language”, continues her exploration of abstract art, but in a more intimate way. Sally is investigating the use of symbols and mark making in an effort to delve into her personal history and to tap more deeply into her emotions as she paints. In this way, Sally is developing a language of her own, but one that is recognisable to viewers as well. She hopes to take viewers on a symbolic journey that is both inner-directive and universal. Each painting has a story to tell, despite being abstract. This series is also tied together with a harmonious colour scheme that is sure to delight and uplift.
“Sign Language” runs until June 15th. Sally’s work can also be found at Shop Three Gallery, Courtyard Studios, Milton.
April 30 (Thursday) 5:00 pm - June 15 (Monday) 5:00 pm
