Cupitt’s is again awarded the Shoalhaven Wine Region’s STAR Cellar Door and Winery in the 2019 Gourmet Traveller WINE Best Cellar Door Awards.

This is the fourth time we have brought this winery award to Ulladulla!

Gourmet Traveller WINE’s Best Cellar Door Awards

The country’s leading wine writers scoured every region in search of star wineries. They also look for top tasting experiences and places that serve first-class food. In determining the winners, wineries were assessed on the quality of wine, staff knowledge and service, stemware, food, atmosphere, venue, location and how these factors combine for the complete Cellar Door experience.

In crowning Cupitt’s the STAR winery for the Shoalhaven region, Peter Bourne from Gourmet Traveller WINE commented:

This is an amazing operation, a vineyard, winery, cellar door, restaurant, brewery and fromagerie – Cupitt’s has the lot, all in one neat and very stylish package. Rosie Cupitt is the driving force but her husband and their children are very much part of the success.

Originally from Bowral, Rosie Cupitt is a trained horticulturalist who re-skilled with a CSU oenology course before establishing this minuscule vineyard near Milton. Located in an old sandstone creamery dating back to 1851, the Cupitt cellar door is refreshingly unpretentious.

The adjacent Cupitt’s Kitchen has been built in sympathy with the winery in the cool underground cellar below. Enjoy a ploughman’s platter of olives, dips and breads at the cellar door or a fresh, produce driven meal at the restaurant. Live music on Sundays and weekend pizzas add to the child friendly nature of this exceptional enterprise.

Peter’s hot tip was to pick up a bottle of the Estate Grown 2018 Cupitt’s Alphonse Sauvignon Blanc

Rosie Cupitt said ‘We are humbled to again take out the best Cellar Door award in the region. We are constantly looking to improve our cellar door experience all the time. Last year we started trading the cellar door, restaurant, bar and tour experiences seven days and have really felt that has improved the food and wine offering for the South Coast. The Shoalhaven is  a great wine region, and visiting the region could be pooled with a visit to the Canberra District for wine tasting enthusiasts. Alternatively you can just visit Cupitt’s and enjoy all that is to offer in the Ulladulla, Milton and Mollymook district.
